The summer school was held in Melbourne. Not only Australian Shihans but also instructors from several overseas countries took the classes. David Scott Sensei from SA was invited to teach a class at this National School. He commenced the class with a session on Kotodama and then followed this with Bokken training with the focus on Inryoku no Tanren as taught and described by Sugano Sensei as "gravity training".
This year Aikikai Australia held the winter school on the Gold Coast.
Hanan Janiv Shihan visited Adelaide to hold a TTC Special Training Weekend on 22 and 23 May at the Campbelltown Dojo.

Aikikai Australia held the winter school in Sydney.
Tony Smibert Shihan, a member of the Technical Teaching Committee, visited Adelaide on 30 and 31 May 2009 to hold special training sessions. Many students attended and it was a very useful weekend of training.
Sunday, 5 April 2009 was Campbelltown Proud Day, which was held at Thorndon Park. Students who train regularly at the Campbelltown dojo performed demonstrations of Aikido techniques for an enthusiastic crowd.
Sugano Shihan visited Adelaide on Thursday, 22 January 2009 and provided a special Aikikai training session at the City dojo for all members.
Aikikai Australia held yet another successful summer school this year. Sugano Shihan invited Irie Sensei from the Hombu dojo to take some classes during the week. It was Irie Sensei's first of many visits to Australia.
